That thing where you remember every detail about a moment when you learned that a monumental something happened? I have that with Aaliyah’s death. Don’t look surprised.

The short story is this: I was at a party on the roof of the Mercury Lounge with my nearest and dearest when the call came through to one of my companions. Occupational hazard. It was devastating. I’m still devastated.

Oh my God is right. This song never fails to give me the vapors.

The Sheila Divine’s awesome Kickstarter new album project is so exciting and fantastic. And it makes me wish that the Push Kings would do it too. Please please please PLEASE make another album. I know it has been roughly 600 years, and everyone is doing their own thing, but COME ON. (PS Former Push Kings member Carrick totally did the Kickstarter thing successfully for his band Everybody Else)

Watched “Pirate Radio” last night. It was a joy. A little too much with the plot and adventure there in the end, but so much Roy and so much gorgeous music. Five stars. This morning I listened to Leonard Cohen’s “So Long, Marianne,”- which is featured in the movie – about 40 times. Now you listen – as many times as you like.

Julie B! Oh my land. This is hilarious. PS It’s all Julian all the time now. I can’t think of anything else anymore ever. It’s over for me.

Disappointed to be missing Minneapolis this summer for several reasons, some very obvious (Kim, duh), others less so. I haven’t left there without a new boyfriend, for one.

In 2008, it was Skwisgaar. In 2009, Julian Barratt.

Due to commitments to actual people (snore) I hadn’t really given my all to lovely Julian since returning from the trip, so I will have to make the most of the joy of rediscovering him. Thankfully there is so much to discover.

Very popular, wildly irritating radio commercial here in NYC. El Fano thought it was the Moldy Peaches. Everything about that is wonderful.
